Now that the weather is finally turning colder, we are all looking to swap our fall fashion pieces for warmer winter staples. Below I’ve listed 5 jacket styles that are here to stay for the winter months and some suggestions for how to style them! 1. Leather Jacket
Leather jackets are an excellent staple for both fall and winter closets. They are stylish, dressy, and, most importantly, warm! You can dress up your street style by layering a black or brown leather jacket over a cozy turtleneck or sweater, whether you’re wearing it on a crisp fall day or a snowy winter night out.

2. Suede Jacket
I love the look (and feeling!) of this suede moto jacket. Similar to its leather relative, this jacket can dress up your usual casual style while keeping you cozy and warm!
I styled this LOFT Faux Suede Jacket (on sale for $30! See details below) with the same beige mock neck top as before but zipped it up to add more COZY. I think adding a scarf could also make this outfit more of a ‘winter’ look!

3. Plaid Coat
Plaid is the perfect pattern for both fall AND winter, so a cozy plaid coat is definitely worth the investment when it comes to your wardrobe! I prefer a lighter color palette like whites, grays, or even neutrals like cream or beige. Keep it simple in the fall then add a scarf or beanie when winter comes around. 4. Wool-Blend Camel or Cognac Coat
Wool-blend coats are the epitome of cozy! They’re traditional, classy, and warm. Plus, they’re versatile! Living in New England means I’m experiencing the cold weather for almost half the year. Splurging a bit on a wool-blend coat is SO worth it! I personally love the cognac or camel colors for coats in this style and material; they’re classy, timeless, and transition well between seasons.
I had my eye on this Kenneth Cole Wool Blend Duffle Coat since the Nordstrom sale in August. It sold out pretty quickly online but I was so happy when I found it on sale again this fall! It is such a think, warm coat that is great for layering.

5. Puffer Jacket
While most puffer jackets tend to scream ‘winter,’ there are many stylish chic puffer jackets out there that are also a great fall staple, such as this Vegan Leather Mini Puffer from Abercrombie & Fitch.
